Peter Friedrichs, SGA President

President: Peter Friedrichs '10

Peter's official duties as Student Government Association President are presiding over SGA meetings, representing students and their interests on the Priorities, Planning and Budget Committee and serving on the Student-Trustee Liaison Committee with the other members of the Executive Board. He is also responsible for representing student views and initiatives to other constituents at the Colllege. Peter is an architectural studies major from Exeter, N.H.

Bobby Romanow, SGA Vice President

Vice President: Bobby Romanow '10

As Vice President, Bobby will chair the Finance Committee and serve as the liaison between the SGA and the student clubs and organizations. Additionally, he is responsible for keeping records for the SGA finances and regularly reporting them to SGA at assembly. He will also be a member of the Student-Trustee Liaison Committee. The Wayland, Mass., native is majoring in economics with a double minor in east asian studies and applied statistics.

Grace Astrove, SGA Parliamentarian

Parliamentarian: Grace Astrove '10

Grace is very excited about her first year on the Executive Board as the Parliamentarian, where she ensures the SGA follows Robert's Rules of Order. This is her second year on SGA; she served before as a senator. When she is not working diligently on SGA, Grace is the yearbook editor for Connecticut College, interns at the Florence Griswold Museum and likes to spend time relaxing on the beautiful Tempel Green. Grace is a senior majoring in art history and religion, minoring in classics and completing her museum studies certificate this year. She is from Richmond, Va.

Katherine Simoes, SGA Presidential Associate

Presidential Associate: Katherine Simoes '10

As the Presidential Associate, Katherine is responsible for maintaining and organizing the records and files of the SGA. She prepares the agenda for the assembly meetings, maintains accurate minutes of the SGA assembly and executive board meetings and keeps a record of all SGA legislation and amendments. Katherine, an art major and English minor, is from Millington, N.J.

Claire Gould, SGA Chair of Academic Affairs

Chair of Academic Affairs: Claire Gould

As Chair of Academic Affairs, Claire acts as the student liaison between students, faculty and staff regarding all student-related academic issues on campus. She coordinates the student advisory boards for each academic department and represents student views on curriculum, staff appointments, tenure and all other issues related to academics to the appropriate faculty and staff. She also serves as a member on the Student-Trustee Liaison Committee. Claire is a pre-law student with a double major in English and religious studies and a minor in art, and she is from Groton, Conn.

Cayla McLean, SGA Chair of Residential Affairs

Chair of Residential Affairs: Cayla McLean '10

Through SGA, Cayla acts as a liaison between the student body and the Office of Residential Education and Living. She is responsible for co-chairing the Advisory Committee of that office with the Director of Residential Education and Living, Amy Gauthier. Cayla also serves on several other committees that are pertinent to the programming needs and quality of life of students in residential houses. Cayla is an English major from Monrovia, Calif.

Corey Tesla, Chair of Judicial Board

Chair of Judicial Board: Corey Testa '10

Corey manages the Judicial Board during weekly disciplinary hearings, promotes the Honor Code with students, faculty and administrators and serves on the SGA Executive Board as liaison between the student body and the Judicial Board. Corey oversees two representatives from every class who hear cases covering all aspects of the Connecticut College Honor Code. In conjunction with the Associate Dean of Student Life, the Judicial Board works tirelessly to promote integrity and honesty at Connecticut College. Corey is a government major and American studies minor, and he is from Wellesley, Mass.

Logan Zemetres, SGA Director of Public Relations

Public Relations Director: Logan Zemetres '10

Hailing from the border of Massachusetts and New Hampshire, Logan Zemetres has always held an interest in antiques, American pop culture, and public relations. This year he plans to increase the flow of information from SGA to the student body, and vice versa. In order to stimulate this communication, Logan plans to help SGA go digital by establishing a message board for students to present their concerns. Logan’s main goals as PR Director are to increase student involvement, awareness and concern. In addition to SGA, he has been actively involved in MOBROC, the College Voice and Student Activities Council (SAC). Logan is a senior majoring in government and minoring in English.

John Meade, SGA Chair of Student Activities Council

Chair of Student Activities Council: John Meade '11

John is here to make sure that your college experience outside the classroom is just as enriching as inside the classroom. The Student Activities Council (SAC) provides services to the entire campus community: variety events, off-campus events, co-sponsorships of clubs and organizations and many more. SAC also plans traditional events including Harvestfest, Winter Formal, Tent Dances, and FLORALIA. John is a biology major, and he is from Bronx, N.Y.

SGA Chair of Diversity and Equity, Javier Mijares '12

Chair of Diversity and Equity: Javier Mijares '12

Javier is responsible for dealing with all issues related to diversity and concerns of under-represented students at Connecticut College. He presides over meetings of the Cultural Diversity Committee and also serves as a liaison between the Unity Student Steering Committee (USSC) and the SGA. As chair of diversity and equity, Javier is a member of the Student-Trustees Liaison Committee. Javier, who is from Caracas, Venezuela, is aiming for a self-designed major in evolutionary psychology with a minor in sociology.
